Participants in NeuroAwareness programs learn to advance into deep stages of meditation, using early Buddhist practice techniques, along with advanced neurofeedback technology. This combination of techniques harnesses the synergy between the highest tech and the most successful meditation techniques as taught by the Buddha.
Initial studies show that Low Energy Neurofeedback Systems (LENS) reduces mental distractions, including worry, anxiety, and aversion, which prevent us from being fully present. LENS sessions typically result in mental states of tranquility and clarity in all age groups. Following initial treatment, a meditation method known as Smiling Mind Meditation and Six Rs is taught and practiced in combination with follow-up treatments. The Six Rs is a mnemonic training method that deconditions the causes of toxic and reactive mental states and emotions. Cultivation of the Six Rs activates physical and mental conditions that promote mental agility and responsiveness. It improves memory and conditions the mind-body in a state of homeostasis: a relatively stable equilibrium between interdependent mental and physical elements, especially as maintained by physiological processes resulting in emotional relief from mental conflict or contentment. The combined use of LENS neurofeedback with the entourage of specific meditative exercises contain within the Six Rs has shown to be universally effective for people world-wide seeking treatment for medical conditions, including head trauma, ADHD, and PTSD. This includes certain types of head injury and trauma. The combination of LENS and the Six Rs has been successful for both long-time meditators who have plateaued in their progress and for those who have been unsuccessful with meditation because of severe mental agitation, restlessness or pain.
